Water Heater Damage

SERVPRO responded recently to a vacation home where the hot water heater had rusted through and water had spilled out on to the floor.

You can take precautions and be alert for these indicators that your water heater is about to fail.

1: How old is it? Generally if it is more than 10 years old you should consider replacing it

2: Is rusty water coming from hot side of piping?  

3: Is there a rumbling noise?  As a water heater ages sediment builds up in the bottom and eventually hardens.

4: Is there any moisture around the water heater?  You may have a small leak or fracture.
