Cracks in Grout Can Cause Mold

Cracked shower or tub grout is not only unsightly but can lead to mold growth as the water has the perfect opportunity to find its way wunder the cracks and begin to grow. 

This homeowner did not realize that the cracks were letting in small but significant amounts of water that were then being absorbed by the underlying floor materials.  

Only when they discovered mold growing on the ceiling tiles one floor down under the existing shower did they discover the cause of the mold.
