Beware of Ice Dams
1/3/2020 (Permalink)
The storms are rolling into to Eastern Idaho and they are definitely coming with a vengeance. The weather is wet and cold and the roofs are beginning to get heavy. Ice Dams are a very serious issue that can cause a lot of different problems with your roof and home.
According to www.thespruce.com, the best way to prevent an ice damn is:
- Ventilation under the roof deck, which keeps colder outside air circulation through the attic and prevents it from warming above the freezing point.
- Insulation in the ceiling below the attic, which will prevent warm air from rising up into the attic space.
- Blocking any hear sources that may be contributing to high temperatures in the attic.
